NYS Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist

Imari Ventura Rochez is a Connecticut and New York State, bilingual certified Speech-Language Pathologist. She obtains a Master of Science in Communication Science Disorders (CSD) from Teacher’s College, Columbia University, and a Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). 

Imari has 10+ years of experience as a speech-language pathologist and has extensive experience across pediatric and geriatric populations. She has worked in school buildings, central school districts, hospitals, nursing homes, and outpatient rehabilitation centers.  In addition to being a clinician she is a clinical educator, guiding graduate students and emerging clinicians to combine theory with practice to develop cutting edge methodology and innovative practicum.  Areas of expertise include motor speech disorders, the bilingual brain, evaluation, auditory processing, and cognition.

Imari possess a collective 10 years of experience across the lifespan. She has extensive experience working with young children and adults. Her specialized areas of expertise include:  Language intervention: aiding young children to augment receptive and expressive language skills.

 Decreasing stuttering events in children and adults.

Therapy intended to restore language after accident, injury, or trauma.

Skilled oral motor and muscular training to enable precise motor movements.

Dysphagia

Training and retraining of the muscles used for swallowing to enable safe eating.
